At 6.p.m. on November 1, a ceremony celebrating the foundation anniversary of The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo was held at the Shinhan Hall on the sixth floor of the Centennial Hall. This year marks the 64th publication year for Sookdae Shinbo since its foundation and the 47th year for The Sookmyung Times. During the ceremony, both The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo members had a precious time with former press reporters who attended the celebration. The ceremony began with a congratulatory address by Professor Yook Sung Hee, a director of both presses at Sookmyung. She said that 2019 was an eventful year for both the The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo and praised the hard work of all reporters in both presses. After her address, Lee Hye Young, Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs at Sookmyung, gave a ceremonial speech addressing both The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo. She started her speech with congratulations on the anniversaries of their foundations and hope for continual development of fair journalism reporting at Sookmyung. The Editor-in-Chiefs from both presses then gave presentations. In particular, Ma Seunghee, Editor-in-Chief of The Sookmyung Times, expressed her gratitude to all reporters for their superior story coverage and article writing. Awards were also given to reporters who had worked hardest through the year for the The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo. The winners of each press were praised for their hard work in journalism at Sookmyung. Kim Youbin, Culture Section Editor of The Sookmyung Times, who receive an award said, “It is a great honor to accept this award from my colleagues. I have made a lot of great memories working as a reporter with The Sookmyung Times. I end my days as an editor with The Sookmyung Times on a very happy note with this prize.” Thanks to the ceremony, reporters with The Sookmyung Times and the Sookdae Shinbo feel grateful that their effort was appreciated by fellow reporters and gained a greater sense of responsible to better the reporting as the press of Sookmyung.
