What is your plan for the holiday? Do you imagine spending time with family, dating with your partner, going to a special restaurant, or having a holiday party? The pandemic came and you will have had to change all your plans. How about spending your holidays watching these movies at home? Sookmyungians have a number of recommendations that are great for holiday viewing.

1. A Christmas Carol (2009)
(Lee Sumin, Division of Business Administration ’19)

When I was young, I watched this movie at the English academy I was attending to celebrate the holiday. In the movie, Scrooge is an icon of stinginess and is crazy for money. However, he meets three ghosts at night. He realizes his faults and eventually spends a happy holiday season with his neighbors. When I was a kid, I couldn't understand Scrooge's stingy behavior. After growing up, I came to understand and even be like Scrooge. Because of this, I decided to spend the holiday watching this movie again in order to remind myself of how precious relationships with others are.

2. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
(HwangBo Hyun, Division of Business Administration '19)

This movie contrasts Halloween and Christmas. Jack, the best Halloween party planner in town, becomes bored with his daily routine. He travels to the unknown and comes across Christmas town. The mood and circumstances in Christmas town are completely different from his town. Fascinated by this new town, Jack attempts to transform Halloween town into Christmas town. After watching the film, viewers will enjoy comparing the two different holiday towns.

3. Harry Potter (2001~2011)
(Kim Serin, Entrepreneurship Major '18)

I have spent almost every holiday at home. All day and all night long, I watch television. Channels like CGV and OCN usually broadcast the Harry Potter series throughout the holiday season. Thanks to the holidays, I can annually enjoy the series. Every holiday starts at Hogwarts School and I enjoy the holiday vibe from <Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone>. Viewers will enjoy the warmth of the film, especially when Harry Potter and Ron Weasley open their holiday presents.

4. Home Alone (1990)
(Son Hyoju, Division of Business Administration '19)

There are five films in this series, but my favorite one is the first one <Home Alone>. In the movie, Kevin is left home alone while his family go off on holiday. He battles robbers who attempt to rob his home. Watching this movie, I sometimes imagine what I would have done had I been in the same circumstances with Kevin. I have watched it several times. It is always fun to watch and I never get bored of it. I highly recommend this movie.
