Sookmyung Women's University Startup Support Group is leading the research, development, and operation of teaching courses to foster creative talent and initiative. Through this, it is operating to discover promising companies that will create socio-economic value. On December 22nd and 23rd, 2021, the Startup Support Group held an online and offline startup competition to lead startups through the spread of startup education. It is called "Fly to The Startup". The online and offline startup competition was divided into two teams, an idea team and a commercialization team, and the program was conducted offline and online. The idea team develops problem-solving ideas through existing activities such as a capstone curriculum. And the commercialization team covers problem-solving ideas and is in the process of specifying ideas. The evaluation of the competition consisted of criteria such as "innovability of ideas," "business feasibility," and "customer verification." Also it was evaluated and selected by Sookmyung Women's University's start-up support leader and external judges Eight teams from the idea team and nine teams from the commercialization team participated in the competition. SMT met Choi Heejin (Division of Business Administration '20) one of the members of "BookForU", a commercialization team. The BookForU team won the Excellence Award for an environmental fairy tale artbook that upcycled hanbok. In an interview, Choi Heejin said it was an opportunity to confirm the marketability of their product "Child in the Closet" through a start-up competition. After the contest, BookforU, which confirmed its marketability through this competition, is planning to successfully complete its "Child in the Closet" funding and make a new BM. To that end, Choi Heejin encouraged more participation because the market possibility is high and specific items can perform better than expected.
