From February 5th until the 7th, Sookmyung Women’s University held a program called College Day. The program was hosted by student council members from each college, and it was arranged for the first years so that they could become intimate with the university schedule and other students. Gathering at 3p.m, all students assembled in the auditorium to hear a lecture about overall course information and steps for registering classes. It was a great opportunity for the frosh to gain essential information about course registration, campus events, and club participation. Jang Yejin, Department of Social Psychology ’14, said, “College Day was special for us newcomers since we could meet other students and get information about campus life, especially about course registration.” Since the program was held by the student council, it was meaningful for enrolled students lending a hand with the program because they were able to get acquainted with the new 2014 first year students. Lee Jisun, one of the student council members in Division of Children Welfare and Studies, said, “This program gave us a great opportunity to plan and progress the events all by ourselves.” After the lecture in the auditorium, each department had its individual meeting in different classrooms. They finished the program by detailing their major courses and special events planned for the department for the year.
