Hello, Sookmyungians. March has passed and April has come when cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Are you all adjusting well to your school life? I also struggle with tiredness every morning to escape from my lazy life.
As there is a joke that cherry blossoms signal midterm exams, it is time for everyone to get busy. Have you ever experienced 'burnout syndrome'? I remember going through it last year. After entering Sookmyung Women's University, I started various activities like other students. In the beginning, I enjoyed doing meaningful work with new people. Also, I spent every day proud of my sense of accomplishment. But I often stayed up all night because of having a lot of work to do. In addition to studying for exams, my checklist was filled with things to do without any blanks. Nevertheless, I did my best in everything, but my life was gloomy and boring. At that time, I thought I should find a way to shake off this feeling quickly. So, I tried to find a moment to relax. I exercised lightly when the weather was nice or drank a cup of delicious coffee. Eventually, I regained my original feelings. And I learned the lesson that I had to live at my own pace.
If you are currently feeling burnout while doing something, stop for a moment. And think about whether you are pushing yourself to fit into the ideal framework of life. If the flames are too strong, everything will burn. Find your own sustainable pace.
