From May 13th to October 30th, the exhibition Women, Lives and Thoughts is being held at Sookmyung University’s Museum located on the 1st floor of the Renaissance Plaza. The exhibition commemorates the 10th anniversary of Sookmyung Women's University Museum’s relocation and new building. The exhibition also sheds new light on the special exhibition Fragrance of Hanyang Women, which was supported by Seoul City in 1994. This exhibition highlights not only the lives and thoughts of women but also clothing, letters, illustrations, embroidery, and sewing done by women of the past. The exhibition adds to Women's Culture, Thinking and Decoration. Yeon Hyojeong, Department of Mathematics ’13 said, “Decorations like embroidery and sewing were the most memorable. Embroidery and sewing are representative women works of art, and there are many pieces, so I was able to take a peek into their lives.” At the exhibition, people can also see the process of 1940 modernization works on display by Sookmyung Women University students at the time. Kim Hyunwha, Director of Sookmyung Women’s Museum said, “It was rare for women to be treated as true artists in Korea art history. Nevertheless, the lives and thoughts of women of the past occupy a very important part of history overall.”
