From September 14th to 16th and 21st to 23rd Sookmyung hosted ‘Tips for searching books at the library’ in the Education Room at the Main Library. The main topics of the program dealt with: how to search for data correctly, how to find materials at the Main Library, tips for using data from other institutes, and how to write a bibliography. When students prepare reports and thesis papers, it is important to follow standard writing rules in order to avoid plagiarism. Therefore, it was a good opportunity for students to learn about writing correctly. Kim Hagyeong, department of Child Welfare & Studies ’14, said, “Before I participating in this program, I didn’t make much use of the when I needed books, but after learning about the services provided by the library, I came to know how to use library facilities and its homepage. Therefore, I will practice these tips when I visit the library later.” Also, this program is offered monthly, so students may register for it each month on the Main Library site. According to Kim Suyeon, Team Leader of Information Service Department at the Main Library, “I really hope Sookmyungians participate in this program. Although the school invests a lot of money in the provision of excellent services for its students, use of the services is quite low so the school suffers financially due to this lack of usage.”
