The admission office at Sookmyung Women’s University held ‘Monkey Camp’ for first year high school girls concerned about their dreams at the Council Chamber on the 6th floor of Queen Sunheon Building from July 20 to 22. The camp name was created from the Korean word: ‘Mong’ which means dream and ‘Key’ which refers to solution. In other words, Monkey Camp is a camp that helps students discover the key to their dreams. The camp was composed of six sections: ‘Self Search’, ‘Mongle Mongle’, ‘Back to the Future’, ‘Course Search’, ‘Mentor Special Lecture’, and ‘Team Mission’. Each section centers around realizing one’s dream by first considering one’s bucket list. The sections also provide advice on career choice and attempts to resolve parental dream intervening issues. Jo Ara, President of Monkey Camp and student in the Department of Law ’15, said, “At the end of the camp I hope all participating high school students come to a more concrete idea of what it is they would like to do in the future. I hope they realize what they are good at and what makes them happy so that they will enjoy a bright future later”. By participating in Monkey Camp, students take steps that will help them reach their dreams.
