On November 8, 2016, a new president of the U.S.A was elected.  Because of Korea’s relationship with the U.S.A, whoever the American people vote for affects Koreans.  The two main candidates were Hillary Clinton from the Democratic Party and Donald Trump from the Republican Party.  Donald Trump was favored mainly by men and white people while Hillary Clinton was advocated for by mainly colored people and single women. Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton discussed their political qualifications for presidency on American national television.  During the election process, a number of remarkable things related with Donald Trump were revealed.  First, Donald Trump is said to have declared a loss of billions of dollars to avoid paying Federal Income Tax and to have not paid Federal Income Tax for over 20 years.  On one radio program, he clearly voiced his sexist feelings towards women.  There is talk that he has said that women over 35 are ‘not good’, and that women under 30 are best.  There have also been a number of women coming forward with sexual molestation accusations.  With all this controversy, Donald Trump lost a number of advocates.  Donald Trump has refused to comment, but said he would make a statement after the results of the election are announced only after determining whether he will accept the results, highlighting his antidemocratic mindset.  However, in spite of all the controversy, Donald Trump was elected the new president of the U.S.A.  Many people in the U.S. and in other nations around the world were surprised by the result.
