Sookmyung Social Service Center hosted the ‘Winer Vacation Talent Donation Camp’ from January 4th to February 4th. Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF) and Yongsan Ward office partnered with Sookmyung Women’s University and its affiliate high school to open the camp. Various Sookmyung Women’s University clubs like Chung, SAA, STEP-UP and Seol Hwayeon took part in the program to mentor high school students. Sookmyungians acted as mentor for the high school students and engaged in a number of exciting and interesting activities with them. Seol Hwayeon, the university’s Taekwondo club, ran programs related to taekwondo for 3 days. Additionally, Chung, a Sookmyung Women’s University discussion leadership group, opened various events like one to one mentoring, campus tours, keyword speeches and mock interviews. According to Kim Sumin, Leader of Chung, “Chung decided to join this camp because members wanted the chance to share talent with high school students. From the experience, members said they felt rewarded as mentees often expressed great interested in the discussions. The club also passed out practical information packages to help high school students later.” Min Seoyoung, a Shinkwang Women’s High School student, participated in the camp as a mentee. She said, “The camp was great. I had a great experience because obtained a lot of information and strengthen my mental attitude and awareness before starting the new school year. My only comment, however, is I wish the camp period had been a little longer. It was too short. I hope it gets extended in the future.”
