On May 10, Sookmyung Women’s University welcomed NEXEN Heroes’ spokesperson. The title of his lecture was ‘Ladies & Baseball’, and it was aimed at providing information on the ballgame to those who had interest, but lack basic knowledge of the game. During the lecture, students learnt about the NEXEN baseball team, the basics about the ballgame, and tips on how to enjoy the game as spectators. After the lecture, students were given the opportunity to answer questions. All of the answers were in his presentation text and if someone answers correctly, he gave presents. For instance, promotional gifts such as home game tickets, concert tickets, and NEXEN jerseys were given to students as prizes. One of the lecture attendants, Hong Yeonju, Division of Child Welfare & Studies’ 17, came to the lecture in the hopes of receiving game tickets to use as a gift for her friend. She said, “Before this lecture, I didn’t know much about the game, but I learnt a lot and actually became interested in the sport.” She was happy to leave with the parting gift she received for attending. Department of Marketing Communication from NEXEN, Ko Youngkwon who held the lecture said that NEXEN is specifically targeting young ladies in order to nurture women baseball fan. He also said that the lecture appears to have been a huge success and that he was proud to have been the bear of baseball knowledge. He hopes more and more women come out and enjoy the game as well. Nowadays, a lot of people, including women are interested in sports. The program is one of the strategies for attracting sports fan.
