On September 6 and 7, the Office of Employment Support hosted a special career fair for Sookmyungians. The event was aimed at helping students with job preparation. The fair ran from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day in square in front of Queen Sunheon Building. Despite the rain, many students participated in the fair. Director from the Office of Employment Support Choi Sunghee said, “We held the program to help alleviate some of the worry Sookmyungians feel trying to get a job. Students were able to meet face to face with company representatives and gain invaluable information.” The fair gave students 3 different job counselling opportunities: on the spot consultation, event, special lectures with question and answer sessions. During the fair, students heardanalysis to build strategy and received tips on needed qualifications and experience. The greatest aspect of the fair was that 9 different company representatives came to Sookmyung Women’s University to meet with students directly and provide them tips for getting positions in their companies. At the job fair, students also had the chance to receive a free makeover and get their resume photos taken for free. The Seoul Council also worked with Sookmyung Women’s University to set up the fair. Yoon Kyungah, Department of Political Science and Diplomacy‘ 16 who participated in two separate company consultations said that she joined the event because she was a third year student at Sookmyung and felt it was time she started considering her job options. Though she had some vague ideas prior to the fair, she said she gained much knowledge and tips and now knows the direction she must take.
