On September 13, the Sookmyung Office of Employment Support hosted ‘Job Festival’ together with Sookmyung Women’s University alumnae working in departments of human resources at various corporations. The event was created to give current human resources job-seeking students the opportunity to learn from Sookmyung Women’s University alumnae. Alumnae came from the following companies: KB (Kookmin) Bank, Kellogg’s, ELLE, JW Bio & Science, Novartis, and Nowbest. The event took place at Centennial Hall and started at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon and ended at 5:30 p.m. It operated in three distinct parts: initial greetings, lectures, and open communication with alumnae in which students asked specific questions and alumna did their best to respond to the enquiry. From the various lectures, students learnt valuable ways on how to make themselves more attractive to companies and strategies for success in the financial world and why it is important to be courageous. Representative of ‘Nowbest’, Cha Yoonsun, recommended students “Make your own puzzle and get into shape your own way of life. If you are having a hard time finding what to do, then begin by excluding things you dislike in life. “She also recommended students to try in various job fields in order to see possibilities and expand experiences. After the lectures, many Sookmyungians wanted to know more preciously about human resources job opportunities and how they should prepare now for those positions. Lim Suah, Department of Chinese Language & Literature ‘16, commented on how proud she felt of the alumnae participants and said they motivated her to work harder. A large number of Sookmyungians participated in the festival and grabbed the chance to hear from and speak with Sookmyung Women’s University alumnae; they gained invaluable information directly and shared their worries. The ‘Job Festival’ gave Sookmyungians the chance to consider even more deeply their future career paths.
