On August 31 from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, the
International Symposium on ‘Safe and Trusted ICT
/Internet Use Actions Against Internet Misuse’ was
held in the Samsung Convention Center which is
located on the 2nd floor of Centennial Hall. This
symposium was hosted by APWINC (Asia Pacific
Women’s Information Network Center) and KT
Cultural Foundation. Boo Kweun Park, the
Chairman of KT Cultural Foundation gave opening
remarks, followed by welcoming remarks by
President Young Sil Han. President Han said,
“SMU has high expectations for this project and
APWINC’s commitment. I hope that this symposium and project can contribute practically in establishing a safe and trusted ICT environment and culture.” Many specialists in ICT and the Internet from around the world took part. Jin-hyun Cho, Li Jia, Luis Tsuboyama, and Oscar Becerra gave presentations. There were three sessions and each had different subjects related to Internet use. Danbi Lee who participated in the event said, “It was pretty beneficial to me to know about circumstances relating to the Internet, not only in Korea, but also in many other countries such as China, Peru, and the Philippines.”
