Do you know how to publish an English magazine in a month? After complicated procedures, The Sookmyung Times (SMT) gives birth to a magazine. SMT has already published 277 editions by March, 2010, and celebrated its 37th foundation anniversary. SMT delivers not only news of SMU, but also off-campus news. With a sense of duty as SMU English magazine, SMT always runs around on its own two feet to gain information, discuss items, report the cases and complete a perfect article.
The First Publication in 2010
The Procedures on Making the Magazine SMT is always scheduled to have an item meeting before starting to write articles. All the reporters search for three interesting subjects of each article. We look for approximately eight sections before the meeting and discuss and explain our own items during the meeting. People may think reporters find their items easily, but they should pin down their intentions about what they want to write about and why they want to mention the item.
For about ten days, reporters write all the articles they are allotted and meet the deadlines. MENTOR, and Dr.SMT, which include interviews of experts, are the special exceptions because they have a busy schedule to allow SMT to interview them. A feeling of interviewing an expert in her own field could be inexpressible and this interview will become the best experience only an SMT reporter could go through. The most difficult thing is 'correction.' SMT reviews it's articles five times and corrects some wrong spellings, layouts, pictures, and spacing of words for approximately one month. And reporters check each other's articles to heighten the accuracy of the magazines and the efficiency of working. Correction for making better articles takes place as an important task in English-written newspapers of universities.

A Foundation Anniversary
Every year, SMT celebrated our foundation day, and invited many seniors and graduates to participate in the celebration party. In 2009, SMT held the party in Hansangeun lounge and President Young Sil Han came to promise us that the school would be unsparing of its support for the newspapers' infinite development. After the official celebration, SMT arranged a private meeting with seniors, who shared lots of episodes and difficulties that happened in SMT.
A Trip on Busan
SMT went to Busan for traveling there. Many reporters were impressed to see Haeundae glitter in the sun. Although the trip was a little short, SMT visited sightseeing places and spent lots of time getting along with each other deeper. In school we had only limited time to discuss the contents of the magazines, but there we had valuable time to get to know each other. Watching the far-away horizon of Haeundae and the splendid and sparkling night view of Busan stimulated our senses.
Interviews with Mentors
In our magazine, we have a MENTOR section introducing an interview of one a famous person in their field. We personally meet the celebrities and ask some questions about their studies. Through the interview, each reporter gains great advice from listening to mentors' working experiences.
