On April 3rd, Daedongje, also known as the festival of College of Liberal Arts, was held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Queen Sunheon Square intersection. This is the first time a festival was held by the College of Liberal Arts exclusively. The president of College of Liberal Arts of the Student Council, Lee Jungmin, stated that the main reason for its launch was the number of requests from the college’s students. “Through organizing a College Committee consisting of the head student from each department, we were able to launch Daedongje, and this is how we will continue the event next year.” The festival was divided into two themes : Each department had separate booths with themes that showed their characteristics. The booths provided food and beverages along with costumes and photos related to their majors. Then from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there were outdoor performances with Korean traditional instruments. Choi Seungyi, Department of History and Culture ’13, commented, “Although I thought students would not be interested, I was surprised that many visited. Most of all I thought it fun because we could experience different countries indirectly.”
