Feel the Freshness from the Colours of Canada

From September 6th to November 29th, the Canadian modern art exhibition, Colours of Canada is held at Sookmyung Women’s University Museum.  This exhibition is hosted by Sookmyung Women’s University and the Embassy of Canada in Korea to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Canada.  The opening ceremony was held on September 5th, and about 50 guests from all walks of life, including the president of Sookmyung and embassy officials, graced the occasion.  The curator of the museum, Jung Hyeran said, “Sookmyung is honoured to display the Canadian Embassy’s collection, which is priceless, to the public for the first time.”  The exhibition shows photos, pottery, and paintings of Canadian nature and the culture and arts of its native peoples, owned by the Canada government.  Also, promising Korea-Canadian artists Youngman Choi and Jinny Yoo are having their works of art exhibited at Chung-pa Gallery at the same time.  Kim Sangwoo, Department of History & Culture ’13, who visited the exhibition on its opening day, said, “I was not that familiar with Canada.  However, after visiting the exhibition, I felt the freshness of Canada.”  The exhibition is not only open to Sookmyung students, but also to the general public free of charge.  It is open every Monday to Saturday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
