On May 7th, at Queen Sunheon Building 217, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m, the Research Institution of Asian Women offered a special lecture to Sookmyungians.  The invited guest lecturer was Korea’s leading TV producer Na Youngsuk.  Kim Hyeyun from the Research Institution of Asian Women said, “The lecture was offered to students so that they could learn more about being successful and how to make a positive difference in their lives.”  During the lecture, Na Youngsuk repeatedly spoke about the importance of knowing who you are and what you want, no matter how hard the path to that realization may be.  He also encouraged students to throw themselves whole-heartedly into what they love despite drawbacks they could face.  He shared his life story, of joining a theater group.  The theater club did not suit his character, but it gave him helpful indirect experience later as a TV producer.  Through this, Na Youngsuk wanted Sookmyungians to participate in many indirectly related career experiences, especially ones that are out of a student’s comfort zone.  At the end of the lecture, there was a Q&A session.  During the Q&A session, questions were raised and answered including what his goal is when creating a variety show, and memorable casting episodes.  Yun Jiyoung from the Department of Political Science & International Relations ’15, who attended the lecture said “Na Youngsuk’s lecture inspired hope and confidence among Sookmyungians as they enter cut-throat employment competitiveness.”
