At last, the new university dormitory has opened in the second semester of 2008.  Since the former dorm was closed in December 2006, it has taken one and a half years to open again.  The fresh hostel has renovated and upgraded facilities such as rooms shared by only two people, and accommodation for around 450 students.  Firstly, candidates were limited to people who live in areas outside of Seoul , Incheon and Gyeonggi-do.  Also, those selected as residents can only stay for one year.  In fact, applications to enter the dorm will be enforced annually from January of next year, not this year, because of the dates of the completion of construction of the dorm.  Applicants were chosen by computer-drawn lots.  Officials in charge of the dormitory announced already that the class of 07 would occupy 70 percent of the rooms and that of ’08 would possess 30 percent.  That’s why the class of zero-seven couldn’t be supported next year.  Although the class of zero-six was denied at first, officials accepted a few of them.  Moreover there will be a rule from 2009 that if a student has stayed in the dorm for one tear, she cannot live there again.  However, in the cases of the physically challenged, foreign students and scholarship students, they may be granted the preferential right to live in the dorm.
