Making “Her-stories” based on History Liberal Arts

In the first semester of 2009, the 7th cultural subject, History and Culture Liberal Arts, has just been established.  This new cultural subject is part of President Young Sil Han’s pledge to intensify cultural education based on humanism and to revitalize interdisciplinary studies. 

These cultural subjects aim at teaching knowledge essential to understanding existing studies and brand new theories and at cultivating cultured women in this society.  The History and Culture Liberal Arts courses intend to present historical and cultural visions and historical consciousness in order to understand Korean and other countries’ cultures. 

This 7th cultural subject applies only to freshmen who entered SMU in 2009 and other students who entered before 2008 but have completed all the cultural subjects from the first to the sixth.
