The first basic military training took place from January 10 to January 28.  This training was practiced during three weeks in Army Cadet Command located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do.  All military cadets participated in this basic military training, so this training consisted of around 60 military cadets, including not only SMU students, but also others.  They woke up at 6 o’clock every day, and were trained in free gymnastics, a 5km running race, tire traction, and marching in full gear for 30km.  Of course, women cadets were trained the same with men in groups.  Also, they visited South Korea’s mountain castle that is the place of the Manchu war of 1636 for establishing a correct mind of history and nation.  “As first ROTC military cadets, I will become a leader who has an understanding and thoughtfulness,” said Heegyung Jung1, Department of Physical Education’09.[1]  Each cadet will be appointed as a regular cadet.
