The Sookmyung Gender Equality Laboratory held a Cultural Festival of Gender Equality with the theme “Are we in a genuine love?” The festival was opened at the Queen Sunheon Square on the the 21st to the 23rd of November.  The festival was opened to provide basic and necessary knowledge regarding sex and gender to Sookmyungians.  Kim Jinkyung, a full-time researcher in the Sookmyung Gender Equality Laboratory said, “This festival was opened to provide Sookmyungians an opportunity to think about if they are in genuine love -- a love with both genders understanding and respecting each other.” The differences of the genders were demonstrated through the festival events like a speech from entertainer Sean, street plays and movies.  At the booths in the Queen Sunheon Square, the lab prepared lots of exhibitions for students to learn about sex and gender, such as how to use condoms, an introduction to contraception, experiencing pregnancy, and making a menstrual cycle bracelet.  Also, on the Facebook, a couple photo competition was held.  The researcher of the lab added, “There are sex educators in high schools, but the contents are often shallow.  But now Sookmyungians are adults and we thought knowing correct and explicit knowledge on gender and sex is important to maintain a healthy life.  I hope Sookmyungians had a time to think and communicate about gender and sex in a fresh new way and gained accurate knowledge through the festival.”
