From October 30th to November 31st, Sookmyung hosted a Liberal Arts Festival on its campus mainly for students of College of Science. The Sookmyung Liberal Arts Festival is for all students, not just for College of Science students. It is managed by the Institute of Leadership & General Education and is the first ever Liberal Arts Festival. There are fifteen types of programs linked to liberal arts featured at the festival, so students from a variety of departments were able to release their stress and gains imaginative insight into the Liberal Arts field. Kim Hayoung, Department of Global Cooperation ’13 commented on the festival “It was nice to talk with students about liberal arts outside of class. Thanks to the festival, I believe I can study harder for my major.” During the Liberal Arts Festival, many experts visit Sookmyung Women’s University to lecture about Liberal Arts. Jung Seona, Director of the Institute of Leadership & General Education, said, “The festival offers a multitude of advantages for both the Liberal Arts field and participating students. We can promote Liberal Arts and spread the word that Sookmyung Women’s University is the best university for young modern women to learn about and become specialists in Liberal Arts fields.” The Liberal Arts Festival programs are opened to all Sookmyungians and give students an opportunity to absorb an array of needed future knowledge.
