On Tuesday, February 23, Sookmyung Women's University held the '2021 Sookmyung Women's University Entrance Ceremony-1st Year Student Welcome Program' online. The event, also known as 'the 2021 Virtual Live Festival', was broadcast on YouTube and Zoom between 1:30 to 4:00p.m. About 325 students who participated in the event on Zoom received 10,000 Starbucks gift certificates and Sookmyung cheering paraphernalia. Students unable to join the Zoom call were also able to watch the event through a YouTube live broadcast, which has had about 15,000 views as of February 23th. Interest in the event was huge. The event consisted of three parts, each exciting participants and viewers. During the first part, a school promotional video produced by the educational broadcasting station SBS was played. During the second part, the actual welcoming party for new students began with national rituals, the oath of the first grade student, and a congratulatory speech by the president of Sookmyung Women's University. In addition, the images of participants in the Sookmyung Women's University school song campaign were transmitted. Each of these aspects were viewed intensely, thereby showing warm interest in Sookmyung Women's University. During the final part, games and events were carried out for the new first year students. Along with the activities were congratulatory videos that offered students orientation information about the school. There was a true/false quiz competition between departments, and the winning team was able to get the school pouch. Raffle winnings for first year students included school eco bags, dolls, airpods, and iPads. The ceremony ended with photos of first year students being shown on the ending credits. The event was meaningful and was a worthwhile event that replaced in-person celebrations. Sookmyungians were able to enjoy a marvelous entrance ceremony together on Zoom and YouTube.
