I am the editor-in-chief of The Sookmyung Times, an English magazine on campus. This issue marks the end of my sojourn as editor-in-chief as I must end my work with SMT. 2017 was a great year for me and for Sookmyung Women’s University, which had its 111th birthday, and for The Sookmyung Times, which just celebrated 45 years of reporting. It was a great honor to have been a part of this group for 2.5 wonderful years. SMT opened up great many doors for me. I met so many people and had the opportunity to attend so many exceptional events. Recalling some of my adventure, I am drawn to memories of my date with my mother, investigating the school course registration system, learning about Sookmyung’s various on-campus clubs, meeting a number of TV show hosts, and several other well-known persons like doctors, weather casters, and along with senior staffs, I had the opportunity to go to U.S.A to learn about MOOC, Business start-ups and Koreanology. It was my first trip overseas and my task was to interview an American professor. I was nervous, but the experience was life changing. Thanks to The Sookmyung Times, I will never forget my days at university.
Before leaving SMT, I’d like to say thanks to all the people who helped me throughout the years, for without their help, SMT wouldn’t be a good as it is. First off, I’d like to say thank you to SMT copy editor Matilda Krivan. Thank you and I’m sorry that we are constantly pressuring you due to a tight time frame. Next, I’d like to thank Professor Kang Mieun and our SMT Assistants, who are always encouraging and appreciative of our effort. Aeryeon Park, The Sookmyung Times cover and layout designer, you definitely make SMT shine. Koo Gyohyun, Ha Sunwoo, Park Minji, Chun Heejin, and Oh Jieun: thank you for always being there to help and guide me. I have reached new heights because of you. Oh Sumin and Park Sieun, my right-hand buddies. I will miss you and recall often our days together at The Sookmyung Times. To Kim Minji, Culture Section Editor, Kim Hyuna, Society Section Editor, Lee Hyebin, Women Section Reporter, and all cub reporters, I would like to express my utmost gratitude for helping lead the staff at The Sookmyung Times. I couldn’t have done it alone. Finally, I would like to show my appreciation for my fellow Sookmyungians who have shown SMT much love. Without you, SMT wouldn’t be as great as it is. Although I leave The Sookmyung Times, I promise to continually support it wholeheartedly the rest of my days. Joining The Sookmyung Times was definitely the best decision I made at university.
