On August 9, 2018, a program was held for those preparing to enter a conglomerate at the Veritas Building Room 106. The program offered detailed courses on letters of self-introduction and gave students the opportunity to participate in interview practice by answering questions on job competency and personality. Participants were 52 Sookmyungians who were either undergraduates or alumnae preparing for employment at conglomerates during the second half of the 2018 year. Participants were divided into four groups of thirteen and took a week of classes. The first and second groups started the program on July 9, which ended on July 16. The third group started on August 6, and once that program concluded on August 20, the fourth group started their classes. The program was hosted by the Career Development Center and Consultant Kim In-haeng was invited to lecture. Lectures focused on interview tips and employment hiring success at conglomerates. Participants had classes for four hours every day, and they engaged in interview practice after putting together their employment documents. This took about 2 hours, and the last 2 hours of each day was left for discussion of employment examination questions. Specially, in presentation interview practice course, participants, after creating their own interview scenarios and documentation, they performed in front of professors and the invited lecturer. This gave students to experience real world simulations. Gong Yumi, Division of Chinese Language & Literature ’13, Group 3 participant, said, “I found the program on the SNOWAY homepage and during the lectures, I learned a lot because the program helped me prepared for things I had difficulty doing alone.” Gong also said, “Above all, I learned how to create a top-notch letter of self-introduction form. I’m also satisfied with the feedback I received in real time and came to know my shortcomings when it comes to interviews and presentations.” The conglomerate preparation program that was held during the second half of 2018 gave students some much needed advice and tips for success along their career path. Students were able to obtain much needed employment information and in just a short period of time, they learned lot. This SMT reporter hopes many more Sookmyungians take a leap toward their dreams by participating in this and similar programs offered by Sookmyung Women’s University.
