On October 3 and 4 at 7:00 P.M. the 19th French performance, named “The Night of Poetry and Chanson,” was held in Serving Hall, on the 6th floor of the Student Building Room, sponsored by the department of French Language & Literature. According to the Head Professor of the department, Jo Hang Duk, they have been holding plays related to French biannually ever since 1971 and that it is their good source of pride among many student activities. This time the students performed a musical play entitled, “Don Juan.” It is a renowned dramatic play about a legendary debauched man named Don Juan, which was written by a leading playwright in , named Moliere in the 17th century (1665). The students had adopted Moliere’s original play into their own scenario and matched up a lot of music to the scenes, that was used in various French musicals. Their performance over all combined not only their fluent French speaking ability, but also decent acting and singing ability. Although the 19th play has drawn its curtain, don’t be so depressed, because “The Night of Poetry and Chanson“ is held every other year! Wait for the next one.
