Chun Hae Kyeong of the Department of French Language and Literature and Lee Young Hyun from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising won the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Award in the 15th National Model UN Conference-Korea (MUN). It was held on Kyunghee global campus from July 1 to 4. They debated on the subject, ‘International Cooperation on Eliminating Violence against Women in Armed Conflict’ participating as representatives of the Republic of Namibia in pairs. The MUN was held under the sponsorship of the United Nations Association of the Republic of Korea and supported by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency). They prepared for the MUN by hosting an informal gathering for discussion once a week with seniors who had taken part in the MUN. Sookmyung Women’s University (SMU) has accomplished the outstanding attainment of winning at the MUN for three years in a row. Chun Hae Kyeong said, “I was very pleased. It was the perfect opportunity to learn about the UN and myself. Winning at the MUN inspired me and I am sure this experience offered me stepping stones in my future career.”
