The Haeoreum Festival was held on Queen Sunheon Square on March 4th to 5th, 2013. The first Haeorem Festival was in 2009, so this was the 5th such festival at Sookmyung Women’s University (SMU). This festival was sponsored by SMU’s Student Government and University Club Association. In this festival, many leadership groups and clubs set up booths and did publicity activities to recruit freshmen for making new members of their clubs. The mascot of SMU, Noonsong-I, actively moved around the Queen Sunheon Square and she took pictures together with freshmen, and SMU’s Student Service Center held photo shooting events for freshmen in front of a balloon arch made in front of of the middle stairs. Students who took their pictures there could get bread at the Student Service Center’s booth. In front of the middle stairs leading to the Queen Sunheon Building, there was also a stage for performances. At 5 p. m. , there were performances of several clubs like MAX, the SMU’s main dance club. Through the Haeoreum Festival, freshmen could find clubs they were interested in by listening to the introductions of senior club members. This festival is expected to make freshmen enjoy their University life more.
