As the H1N1 flu virus has spread in , SMU is also striving to prevent spread of the flu virus. Academic Affairs Services of SMU reported a plan to prevent and deal with H1N1 flu virus. Academic Affairs Services urged students who went abroad and came back after August 24 to call off their attending school for seven days after the day they arrived in . Students, who missed the class performed from September 1 to September 7, were admitted as in attendance. Also, if the student who caught H1N1 flu virus submits a medical certificate to a professor, it is approved as attendance to the extent of 1/4 of the number of school days. In addition, SMU’s Health Care Center distributed masks to all students for prevention. The person concerned with Health Care Center said hundreds of students called off their attending school in the first week.
