From July 3 to 14, the 2023 Summer Vacation Global Capacity Enhancement Program was held for Sookmyung Women's University students. This program provided diverse special lectures on overseas employment strategies that are suitable for enhancing students' aptitude. Information related to foreign companies, international organizations and overseas internships was included. English resume and interview guidance also provided opportunities to overcome the language barriers that can be a hindrance to overseas employment. These special lectures were non-face-to-face recorded lectures. The program began with an introduction to overseas workplaces such as in the U.S., Europe, and Germany and an explanation of the kind of talent valued by each company in comparison. Due to the high flexibility of the labor market in the U.S., it is important to participate in job-related internships and projects. In the lectures on international organizations and overseas internship strategies, information exploration and foreign language skills were highlighted as being the most important. In order to collect job information, the speaker urged people to closely examine overseas job search sites. In relation to English resumes, the method of writing mainly based on work performance, which is important for recruitment, was covered. In particular, it was selected as an important factor in the interview to efficiently convey how students are compensating for their own shortcomings. Park Hye-lynn, a student of the Department of Library & Information Science '23, said, "I didn't know how to prepare for overseas employment because it was so vague. However, it was good to learn from this lecture that work experience is important to get the job I want. It was also beneficial to listen again to any parts I had missed whenever I wanted because it was a non-face-to-face lecture." Through this program, it seems that many SMWU students were able to access new ways to expand their capabilities and enter the overseas job market.
