On September 3rd, the Admissions Office at Sookmyung held an event named ‘Open Campus’ on Campus I from 10:30 a.m to 3:00 p.m. The event introduced the admission process to enter Sookmyung Women’s University to high school students considering an academic career at Sookmyung Women’s University. The event provided students information on the school's various majors and lectures. Sookmyungians from different majors opened small booths that promoted their major to the visiting high school students. There was also an event booth set up for high school students to participate in a game and win prizes. Moreover, food, drinks, and pamphlets were distributed freely to the visiting students and the families were given private tours around the campus and introduced to booths specializing in majors of interest. Kim Min Kyoung, a student from the Department of French Language and Literature ’14, said, “Most of the visiting high school students seemed concerned about the competition rate for entering a major and majors with lower competitive rates. They wanted to know the chance of entering a certain major at Sookmyung Women’s University and what other less known majors are all about. However, I told them to choose a major that they were interested in or that suited their talents rather than rely on rates of competition to determine what to study, at university. I also said Open Campus would help them with that.” Sookmyungians hope that high school students learnt more about possible future study fields from the Open Campus.
