On May 15, 16, and 18 the Employment Support Team at Sookmyung Women’s University’s office of Career Development hosted an intensive employment counseling program entitled ‘May I help you?’ The event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the three days at the plaza located in front of Queen Sunheon Building. Directors of the event and Head of Employment Support, Choi Sunghee said, “Students often feel awkward and shy when it comes to employment counseling. This event aims at bringing students closer to counselors and informing them about the counseling process.” In addition, she added, “Personally, it is my hope that students learn about employment from various events Sookmyung offers and seek advice and help from the various events.” At the counseling booths, students could receive one-to-one consultations and learn about government programs that sponsor overseas businesses, and it also enabled Career Development to promote its employment center and introduce its various programs. All job seekers, from undergraduate to graduated students benefited from the event. Jung Hyebin, Division of Child Welfare & Studies’ 15, participated in the one-to-one counseling and said, “I participated in this program because of its heavy promotion. At first, I had no idea and never considered joining the program. However, the counselors made me feel comfortable, so I asked several questions freely. That was the most satisfying point for me.” She went on to say, “As I am now in my third year, I am starting to get concerned about future employment. I will follow the advice I got at the counselling session.”
