LETTER from President Sunhye Hwang
I am pleased to celebrate the release of the 300th edition of the Sookmyung Times (SMT), the official English journal of Sookmyung Women’s University (SMU). Since the SMT published its first edition in October, 1973, it has covered and analyzed diverse events happening both on campus and in Korean society, and conveyed them through English language to Sookmyungians and the sister schools all over the world.
I believe that the SMT has so far played an important role as a window to the globalized society and also as a bridge between Sookmyung and the world.
I hope that the SMT will continue to report without partiality the achievements and the problems of various parts of SMU, including the administration, the faculty, and the student body. I also hope that the SMT can provide the international students with necessary information on the university and Korean culture, so that they can well adapt to the new school and social environments.
Once again, I celebrate the release of the 300th edition of the Sookmyung Times. And I particularly appreciate
Professor Heungryeol Kim, director, all student reporters, and editors for their sincere efforts for the SMT.
I pray for the eternal prosperity of the Sookmyung Times. Thank you.
